Equipment

  • Small skewers or toothpicks
  • Platter
  • Small bowl

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 pint cherry tomatoes
  • 1 package (8 oz) small fresh mozzarella balls (bocconcini) drained
  • 1/2 cup fresh basil leaves
  • 4-6 slices prosciutto thinly sliced (optional, for a non-vegetarian twist)
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic glaze store-bought or homemade
  • 1 tablespoon pesto store-bought or homemade

Instructions

Instructions

  • If using prosciutto, wrap a small piece around each mozzarella ball.
  • Thread one cherry tomato, a basil leaf, a mozzarella ball (with or without prosciutto), and another cherry tomato onto a skewer.
  • Arrange the assembled skewers attractively on a platter.
  • Drizzle balsamic glaze generously over the skewers.
  • Gently warm the pesto if it's too thick, then drizzle it finely over the skewers.
  • Serve the skewers immediately as a delightful appetizer.

Notes

For an extra touch, you can lightly toast the basil leaves before threading them onto the skewers to release more of their aromatic oils. These skewers are best served fresh to ensure the mozzarella remains soft and the basil vibrant.
