  • 1 can wild-caught salmon drained well
  • 1 lb fresh salmon fillets skinned and finely chopped
  • 1 large egg lightly beaten
  • 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup red onion finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 1-2 tablespoons olive oil or avocado oil

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Flake canned salmon, removing bones/skin, or finely chop fresh salmon and pat dry, then place in a medium bowl.
  • Add beaten egg, breadcrumbs, red onion, dill, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, salt, and pepper to the salmon.
  • Gently mix until just combined, then form into 4 equal patties.
  • Heat oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat; cook patties 3-5 minutes per side until golden and cooked through to 145°F (63°C).

Notes

Serve these salmon burgers on whole-wheat buns with your favorite toppings, or alongside a fresh salad for a lighter meal. For extra flavor, consider adding a pinch of smoked paprika to the patty mixture. You can also prepare the patties ahead of time and refrigerate them for up to 24 hours before cooking.
