  • 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs
  • 1 cup your favorite BBQ sauce
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil optional, for searing or coating dish
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder optional
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder optional

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare the chicken by pounding to an even thickness if using breasts, then pat dry.
  • Season both sides of the chicken with salt, black pepper, and optional garlic and onion powder.

Cooking

  • Place the seasoned chicken in a baking dish and coat generously with BBQ sauce, reserving some for basting.
  • Bake for 20-30 minutes, basting with more BBQ sauce halfway through, until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).

Serving

  • Remove the chicken from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing or serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, marinate the chicken in BBQ sauce for at least 30 minutes before baking. Serve with your favorite sides like mashed potatoes, coleslaw, or a simple green salad.
