Equipment

  • Paper towels
  • Medium bowl
  • Large skillet or wok

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb large shrimp peeled and deveined
  • 4 cups broccoli florets about 1 large head
  • 3 garlic minced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tsp lemon zest
  • 0.5 tsp red pepper flakes optional, for heat
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • fresh parsley chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Preparation

  • Thoroughly dry the shrimp with paper towels, then marinate in a bowl with 1 tablespoon olive oil, half the minced garlic, lemon zest, red pepper flakes (if using), and salt and pepper for 10 minutes.

Cooking

  • Heat the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add broccoli florets and a splash of water, cover, and cook for 3-5 minutes until crisp-tender; remove and set aside.
  • Add the marinated shrimp to the same skillet in a single layer, cooking for 2-3 minutes per side until pink and opaque; cook in batches if necessary.
  • Return the broccoli to the pan, add the remaining minced garlic and fresh lemon juice, then toss everything for 1-2 minutes to combine flavors and heat through.
  • Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper as needed.
  • Garnish with fresh chopped parsley before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, you can add a pinch of dried oregano or Italian seasoning to the marinating shrimp. Adjust the amount of red pepper flakes to your preferred level of spice.
