  • 240 g Powdered Sugar (Confectioners' Sugar) sifted
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted Butter softened
  • 1/4 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • Pinch Salt
  • 3-5 tablespoons Milk or Cream (whole milk or heavy cream)

  • Sift 2 cups (240g) of powdered sugar into a medium bowl to remove any lumps.
  • Add 2 tablespoons of softened butter, 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt to the sifted sugar.
  • Begin with 2 tablespoons of milk or cream and whisk vigorously with a fork or small whisk until the mixture is smooth.
  • Continue adding milk, 1 teaspoon at a time, whisking well after each addition, until your desired pourable or spreadable consistency is achieved, using anywhere from 3-5 tablespoons total.

Notes

This recipe yields a versatile frosting. For a thinner glaze, add more milk; for a thicker, spreadable frosting, use less.
