Instructions

Cooking Instructions

  • Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium-high heat, then brown the ground beef, breaking it up and draining any excess fat.
  • Add chopped onion and cook until softened, then stir in minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  • Pour in crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, and beef broth; stir in oregano, basil, and red pepper flakes, season with salt and pepper, and bring to a simmer.
  • Stir in the uncooked elbow macaroni, ensuring it is mostly submerged in the liquid.
  • Reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally until pasta is tender and liquid is absorbed.
  • Remove from heat, sprinkle with shredded cheese, cover to melt, then serve hot.
  • Garnish with fresh chopped parsley if desired and enjoy.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider adding a bay leaf during simmering and removing it before serving. Adjust red pepper flakes to your preferred spice level. A quick and easy weeknight meal that kids and adults will love!
