Equipment

  • large skillet
  • paper towels

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb large or jumbo shrimp peeled and deveined, tails on or off
  • 4-6 garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes optional
  • lemon Juice of half a lemon
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley chopped
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

Instructions

Preparation

  • Pat the shrimp dry and season generously with salt and pepper.

Cooking

  • Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  • Add minced garlic and red pepper flakes, if using, and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.
  • Place the seasoned shrimp in a single layer in the pan and cook for 1-2 minutes per side until opaque and pink, avoiding overcooking.

Finishing

  • Remove the skillet from heat, squeeze in lemon juice, and sprinkle with fresh parsley, then toss gently to combine.
  • Taste and adjust seasoning with more salt, pepper, or lemon juice as needed, then serve immediately.

Notes

Overcooking shrimp makes them tough, so watch them closely! This dish is excellent served with crusty bread for dipping or over pasta or rice. Adjust red pepper flakes to your spice preference.
