  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 3 garlic, minced cloves
  • 1 ginger, grated inch
  • ½ cup soy sauce
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon gochujang (Korean chili paste), optional
  • 2 cups chopped broccoli florets

  • Cooked rice for serving
  • Green onions, chopped for garnish
  • Sesame seeds for garnish

Cooking Steps

  • Heat sesame oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, then drain excess fat.
  • Reduce heat to medium, then add minced garlic and grated ginger to the beef and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, and gochujang (if using).
  • Pour the prepared sauce over the beef mixture, stirring to coat, then add the chopped broccoli florets.
  • Bring to a simmer, cover, and cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens and broccoli is tender-crisp.
  • Divide cooked rice into bowls, then spoon the beef and broccoli mixture over the rice.
  • Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

For a spicier kick, increase the amount of gochujang. Serve with a side of kimchi for an authentic Korean experience.
