  • 1 onion medium, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 condensed cream of mushroom soup (10.5 ounce) can
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard (optional)
  • 1/2 cup sour cream at room temperature
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (or a neutral cooking oil)

  • Cooked egg noodles or rice for serving
  • Fresh parsley chopped, for garnish (optional)

Cooking Instructions

  • Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat and brown the ground beef, breaking it up with a spoon.
  • Drain any excess grease from the skillet.
  • Add the chopped onion to the beef and cook until softened, then stir in the minced garlic for one minute.
  • Stir in the mushroom soup, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and Dijon mustard; simmer on low heat for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Remove from heat and stir in the sour cream until smooth, being careful not to boil the sauce.
  • Season the stroganoff with salt and black pepper to taste.
  • Serve immediately over hot egg noodles or rice, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

For a richer flavor, use full-fat sour cream. Ensure sour cream is at room temperature before adding to prevent curdling. You can also add sliced mushrooms with the onions for more flavor and texture.
