Equipment

  • Large bowl
  • Large skillet (optional)
  • Slow cooker

Ingredients

Meatballs

  • 1.5 lbs Ground Meat mix of beef and pork recommended
  • 1/2 cup Breadcrumbs plain or Panko
  • 1 Egg large
  • 1/4 cup Milk
  • 1/2 Onion small, finely minced (or 1 tsp onion powder)
  • 2 Garlic cloves, minced (or 1/2 tsp garlic powder)
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan Cheese grated (optional)
  • 1 tsp Italian Seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 tsp Black Pepper

Sauce

  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil for searing, optional
  • 24-28 oz Marinara Sauce jar
  • 1/2 cup Beef Broth

Instructions

Prepare Meatballs

  • In a large bowl, combine all meatball ingredients and gently mix until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
  • Roll the mixture into 1.5-inch meatballs, yielding approximately 20-24 meatballs.

Cook Meatballs

  • Optionally, sear meatballs in olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat for 2-3 minutes per side until browned, then transfer to a slow cooker.
  • Pour marinara sauce and beef broth over the meatballs in the slow cooker and gently stir to ensure even coating.
  • Cook on LOW for 4-6 hours or on HIGH for 2-3 hours until cooked through and tender.

Serve

  • Taste and adjust seasoning as needed before serving hot with your preferred accompaniments.

Notes

For best results, searing the meatballs beforehand adds a richer flavor and texture. Do not overmix the meatball mixture, as this can lead to tough meatballs.
