Equipment

  • large skillet (cast iron or heavy-bottomed)

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 pound salmon fillets skin on or off, divided into 2-4 portions
  • 2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning
  • 1-2 tablespoons olive oil

For Serving (optional)

  • Lemon wedges
  • Fresh parsley or cilantro chopped, for garnish

Instructions

Cooking Steps

  • Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels.
  • Sprinkle Cajun seasoning evenly over both sides of each fillet, gently pressing it into the fish.
  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until it shimmers.
  • If using skin-on salmon, place skin-side down in the hot skillet and cook for 4-5 minutes until golden and crispy.
  • Flip the salmon and cook for another 3-5 minutes until flaky and cooked through.
  • Transfer salmon to plates, let rest, then garnish with fresh herbs and lemon wedges if desired.

Notes

Adjust Cajun seasoning to your spice preference. Ensure the skillet is hot before adding the salmon to get a good sear. Do not overcrowd the pan; cook in batches if necessary.
