  • 1 lb fresh, ripe strawberries (about 450g)
  • 16 oz mascarpone cheese or cream cheese (about 450g)
  • 2-4 tbsp powdered sugar or maple syrup (optional, to taste)
  • 24-30 savoiardi ladyfingers
  • 1/4 cup milk (optional, for dipping)

  • Rinse and hull the strawberries, then slice them; set a few halves aside for garnish.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine mascarpone cheese with your chosen sweetener and whisk until smooth and creamy, being careful not to over-mix.
  • Lightly dip ladyfingers in milk, if desired, and arrange a single layer at the bottom of your chosen trifle bowl, baking dish, or ramekins.
  • Evenly spread half of the sliced strawberries over the ladyfingers, then gently cover with half of the cream mixture.
  • Create a second layer with the remaining ladyfingers, followed by the rest of the strawberries and the remaining cream mixture.
  • Cover the dessert with plastic wrap and refrigerate for a minimum of 4 hours, or ideally overnight, to allow it to set and flavors to meld.
  • Before serving, adorn the tiramisu with fresh strawberry slices or a dusting of powdered sugar.

Notes

For an extra touch, you can add a splash of liqueur like Grand Marnier or a strawberry liqueur to the milk for dipping the ladyfingers. Ensure your mascarpone cheese is at room temperature for easier whisking and a smoother cream.
