Equipment

  • Mason jars
  • Airtight lids
  • Spoon
  • Whisk

Ingredients

For the Basic Overnight Oats Base (per jar):

  • 1/2 cup rolled oats (not instant, as they can become mushy)
  • 3/4 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy like almond, soy, oat, or coconut milk)
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds (essential for thickening and extra nutrients)
  • 1-2 teaspoons maple syrup, honey, or your preferred sweetener (adjust to taste)
  • Pinch salt

For the 7 Easy Jar Variations (per jar):

  • 1/4 cup mixed berries (fresh or frozen)
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon peanut butter
  • 1/2 small banana (sliced)
  • dash cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup diced apple
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • pinch nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup diced mango (fresh or frozen)
  • 1 tablespoon shredded unsweetened coconut
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon almond butter
  • chocolate chips for topping (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon poppy seeds
  • 1 teaspoon matcha powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Toppings (Optional):

  • Extra fruit, nuts, or a drizzle of honey

Instructions

Preparation

  • Gather seven clean pint-sized Mason jars with airtight lids, as this recipe is for individual servings.
  • In each jar, combine the rolled oats, chia seeds, your choice of milk, sweetener, and a pinch of salt.
  • Add the specific ingredients for each of the seven variations to their respective jars; for example, add mixed berries and vanilla extract to the "Classic Berry Bliss" jar.
  • Using a spoon or small whisk, thoroughly stir all ingredients in each jar, ensuring no clumps of chia seeds remain.
  • Securely seal each jar with its lid and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or ideally overnight, to allow the oats and chia seeds to soften and swell.
  • In the morning, open a jar, stir well, and add any desired fresh toppings like extra fruit, nuts, or a drizzle of honey before enjoying.

Notes

For the best texture, ensure you use rolled oats, not instant. Adjust the sweetness to your preference. Get creative with your toppings in the morning!
