  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Buttercream Frosting

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3-4 cups powdered sugar
  • 2-3 tablespoons milk or cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • few drops food coloring (optional)

Instructions
 

Cupcake Preparation

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 12-cup muffin tin with paper liners.
  • Whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl.
  • In a separate bowl, cream softened butter until light and fluffy, then beat in eggs one at a time.
  • Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, alternating with milk, starting and ending with the dry ingredients.
  • Stir in vanilla extract until just combined, then divide batter evenly among cupcake liners.
  • Bake for 18-22 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean; cool completely on a wire rack.

Buttercream Frosting Preparation

  • Beat softened butter in a large bowl until creamy, then gradually add powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Mix in a few drops of food coloring, if desired, until well combined and vibrant.

Assembly

  • Frost cooled cupcakes as desired using unique monster designs.

Notes
