Equipment

  • Large skillet or wok
  • Spoon
  • Small bowl
  • Whisk

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450g) Ground Beef (80/20 recommended)
  • 1 medium head Green Cabbage, thinly sliced or shredded
  • 2 tbsp Soy Sauce (or Tamari for gluten-free)
  • 1 tbsp Rice Vinegar
  • 1 tsp Sesame Oil
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp Fresh Ginger, grated

Garnish (Optional)

  • Optional Sliced green onions or sesame seeds

Instructions

Cooking Steps

  • Brown the ground beef in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat, breaking it up and cooking until no pink remains; drain any excess fat.
  • Push the cooked beef to one side, add minced garlic and grated ginger to the empty side, and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  • Stir in the shredded cabbage with the beef and aromatics, cooking for 5-7 minutes until it is tender-crisp.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce (or tamari), rice vinegar, and sesame oil to create the sauce.
  • Pour the sauce over the beef and cabbage, tossing to coat and heat through for 1-2 minutes; garnish with green onions or sesame seeds if desired, then serve.

Notes

For a spicier kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes with the garlic and ginger. Adjust soy sauce to taste, considering its sodium content, and use Tamari for a gluten-free option.
