Equipment

  • Medium Bowl
  • Parchment-Lined Plate
  • Large Non-Stick Skillet
  • Spatula

Ingredients

Salmon Patties

  • 15 oz canned pink or red salmon, drained and flaked (or cooked fresh salmon)
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • 1/4 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon lemon zest (from 1 medium lemon)
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Pinch salt (optional)

For Cooking

  • 1-2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

Preparation

  • Drain and flake canned salmon, removing bones/skin if desired. If using fresh salmon, cook, flake, and cool it.

Combine Ingredients

  • In a bowl, combine flaked salmon with egg, panko, dill, lemon zest, Dijon mustard, pepper, and optional salt. Mix gently to combine ingredients.

Form Patties

  • Divide mixture into 4 equal portions and form into 1-inch thick patties. If wet, add more breadcrumbs; chill for 15-20 minutes to firm up.

Cook the Burgers

  • Heat 1-2 tablespoons olive oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Pan-fry patties for 3-5 minutes per side until golden brown and heated through.

Serve

  • Serve the salmon burgers immediately, perhaps on a toasted bun with preferred toppings and sauce.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider adding a pinch of garlic powder or onion powder to the salmon mixture. These burgers are also great served over a salad or with roasted vegetables for a lighter meal.
