  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 3 tablespoons cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces

For the Luscious Glaze:

  • 1 package Reserved icing from cinnamon roll package
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (Optional, for homemade glaze)
  • 2 tablespoons milk or cream (Optional, for homemade glaze)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (Optional, for homemade glaze)

Instructions

Preparation

  • Peel, core, and dice the apples, then toss them in a bowl with 1/4 cup brown sugar, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  • Combine flour, 1/4 cup brown sugar, and 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon in a separate bowl, then cut in cold butter until coarse crumbs form.
  • Preheat your oven to the temperature specified on the cinnamon roll package (usually 375°F / 190°C) and lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.

Assembly

  • Separate and cut each cinnamon roll into 4-6 pieces.
  • Spread half of the cut cinnamon roll pieces evenly in the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  • Layer the spiced apple mixture evenly over the cinnamon roll pieces, then drizzle with 2 tablespoons of melted butter.
  • Scatter the remaining cut cinnamon roll pieces over the apple layer.
  • Whisk together eggs, 1/2 cup milk, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract until combined and slightly foamy.
  • Pour the egg mixture evenly over the cinnamon rolls and apples, ensuring all pieces are moistened.
  • Evenly sprinkle the prepared crumble topping over the entire bake.

Baking and Serving

  • Bake for 35-45 minutes, or until the crumble topping is golden brown, the cinnamon rolls are cooked through, and the apples are tender.
  • Remove from oven, let rest for 5-10 minutes, then drizzle with the reserved icing or a homemade glaze; serve warm.

Notes

If the crumble browns too quickly, tent the baking dish loosely with aluminum foil. For best results, use firm, tart apples like Granny Smith. This bake is best served warm.
