Equipment

  • Oven
  • Large Skillet or Cast-Iron Pan
  • Medium Bowl
  • Whisk
  • 9x13 inch Baking Dish

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1.5 lbs thinly sliced ribeye steak or sirloin cut into bite-sized pieces (shaved steak works great too!)
  • 1 large onion thinly sliced
  • 2 bell peppers (any color) thinly sliced
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Cheese Sauce

  • 8 ounces cream cheese softened
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Topping

  • ½ cup shredded provolone cheese divided
  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese divided
  • sliced jalapeños Optional topping
  • red pepper flakes Optional topping
  • fresh parsley Optional topping

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C), then heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Sear the thinly sliced steak in batches for 2-3 minutes per side until browned; remove and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, cook the sliced onion and bell peppers for 8-10 minutes until softened, then stir in garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.

Assembly

  • Whisk together softened cream cheese, heavy cream, beef broth, and Worcestershire sauce until smooth, then stir in half of the provolone and mozzarella cheeses.
  • Return the seared steak to the skillet with the vegetables and mix, then pour the cheese sauce over and gently stir to coat.
  • Transfer the mixture to a 9x13 inch baking dish and sprinkle with the remaining provolone and mozzarella cheese.

Baking

  • Bake for 20-25 minutes until bubbly and golden, then broil for 1-2 minutes if desired for extra browning.
  • Remove from oven, let rest for 5 minutes, and garnish with optional toppings like fresh parsley or red pepper flakes before serving.

Notes

For a spicier kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the vegetables while cooking, or top with sliced jalapeños before serving. Ensure your cream cheese is at room temperature for a smoother sauce. If you don't have ribeye or sirloin, any thinly sliced beef suitable for stir-frying can work.
