Festive Spiced Apple & Brie Bites

  • 1 sheet Puff pastry sheet (store-bought, 14 oz / 397g)
  • 8 oz Brie cheese (225g), cut into 1/2-inch cubes
  • 1/4 cup Apple butter or fig jam
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon Nutmeg

Optional Garnish

  • 2 tablespoons Chopped pecans or walnuts (optional, for garnish)
  • 2-3 sprigs Fresh thyme sprigs (optional, for garnish)

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare a mini muffin tin.
  • Unroll the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface and cut it into 16-20 approximately 2-inch squares.
  • Gently press each pastry square into the cavities of the mini muffin tin.

Assembly and Baking

  • Place a small cube of brie cheese into the center of each pastry square.
  • Mix apple butter (or fig jam) with cinnamon and nutmeg in a small bowl, then spoon about 1/2 teaspoon of this mixture over the brie in each cup.
  • Bake for 15-18 minutes until the pastry is golden brown and puffed, and the brie is melted and bubbly.

Serving

  • Carefully remove the bites from the muffin tin and arrange them on a serving platter.
  • Garnish with chopped pecans or walnuts and fresh thyme sprigs before serving warm, if desired.

Notes

These bites are best served warm. You can prepare them ahead of time and reheat them gently in a low oven before serving. For a varied flavor, try using different fruit jams or a sprinkle of flaky sea salt on top.
