Equipment

  • small saucepan
  • wooden skewers
  • serving platter

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 pint cherry tomatoes
  • 8 oz fresh mozzarella balls (bocconcini), drained
  • 1 bunch fresh basil leaves
  • 1/4 cup balsamic glaze
  • 20-25 small wooden skewers

Optional for homemade balsamic glaze

  • 1/2 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar

Instructions

Homemade Balsamic Glaze (Optional)

  • If making your own glaze, combine balsamic vinegar and brown sugar in a small saucepan. Simmer over medium heat, then reduce to low and cook until thickened; let cool completely.

Assembly

  • Thread one cherry tomato, one mozzarella ball, and one basil leaf onto each wooden skewer, repeating for a patterned effect. Arrange the assembled skewers on a serving platter.

Serving

  • Just before serving, drizzle the balsamic glaze generously over all the skewers. Serve immediately to maintain the basil's freshness.

Notes

For best results, use fresh, high-quality ingredients. If preparing ahead, keep the glaze separate and drizzle just before serving to prevent the basil from wilting and the mozzarella from drying out.
