Equipment

  • Small, sharp paring knife
  • Vegetable peeler
  • Back of a small spoon or butter knife
  • Serving bowl

Ingredients

Dip

  • 1 cup Hummus (or favorite spreadable dip)

Garnishes

  • 3 Radishes
  • 1/2 Cucumber
  • 1 Carrot small
  • 1 Red Bell Pepper small
  • Fresh Parsley (or other fresh herbs) for garnish
  • Olive oil optional, for drizzling

Instructions

Prepare the Dip

  • Spoon your chosen dip into a serving bowl and smooth the surface evenly with the back of a spoon or a small spatula.
  • Gently press the back of a small spoon into the center of the dip and swirl outwards to create a spiral pattern, or use a butter knife to create parallel ridges.

Prepare Garnishes

  • Wash the radishes and use a small, sharp paring knife to make shallow, overlapping cuts around the circumference to create "petals," then gently fan them out to form a rose shape.
  • Wash the cucumber and use a vegetable peeler to shave thin, long ribbons. Roll some into spirals and leave others flat or gently folded.
  • Wash and peel the carrot, then use a vegetable peeler to create thin ribbons. For dramatic curls, place them in ice water for a few minutes.
  • Wash the red bell pepper and slice it into thin strips, or use a small cookie cutter to create shapes.

Assemble and Serve

  • Strategically place the carved radish roses around the edge or in the center of the dip, intermingling cucumber ribbons and carrot curls for visual interest.
  • Tuck small sprigs of fresh parsley among the vegetable garnishes; optionally, drizzle olive oil into the center or along the ridges for flavor and shine.
  • Serve your artfully decorated dip immediately with an assortment of dippers.

Notes

For variation, experiment with different colorful vegetables like yellow bell peppers, cherry tomatoes, or edible flowers. A spiralizer can be used for more intricate vegetable shapes. Ensure all vegetables are thoroughly dried before arranging to prevent diluting the dip. This recipe is highly customizable to your preferred dips and garnishes, making it versatile for any occasion.
