  • Heatproof bowl
  • Saucepan
  • Fondue forks/skewers

Ingredients

Fondue

  • 12 oz high-quality dark chocolate (60-70% cacao) chips or finely chopped
  • 0.5 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • salt Pinch
  • 1 tablespoon Kahlua or Grand Marnier Optional

Instructions

Preparation

  • Wash and slice fruits, then arrange them along with other dippers like cookies, marshmallows, brownies, and pretzels on platters around your fondue pot.
  • Combine the dark chocolate, heavy cream, butter, and a pinch of salt in a heatproof bowl over simmering water or in a microwave-safe bowl, ensuring the bowl does not touch the water.
  • Gently melt the chocolate mixture by stirring occasionally for 5-8 minutes in a double boiler, or heating in 30-second intervals in a microwave, stirring until smooth.
  • Remove from heat or microwave, then stir in the vanilla extract and any optional liqueur until well combined.
  • Pour the warm chocolate mixture into your preheated fondue pot, slow cooker on "warm," or a ceramic fondue pot with a tea light to maintain warmth.
  • Provide fondue forks or skewers and invite everyone to dip their favorite treats into the warm, luscious fondue.

Notes

For best results, use high-quality dark chocolate as it significantly impacts the flavor. Keep your fondue pot on a low setting or use a tea light to prevent the chocolate from scorching. If the fondue becomes too thick, you can stir in a tablespoon or two of warm heavy cream until it reaches your desired consistency. Have a variety of dippers ready to please all tastes!
