Preparation

  • In a shallow dish, whisk together eggs, milk, sugar, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined.
  • Place one slice of Texas toast into the custard mixture, allowing it to soak for 20-30 seconds per side.

Cooking

  • Melt butter in a large non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat.
  • Transfer the soaked toast to the hot pan and cook for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through.
  • Continue with remaining slices, adding more butter as needed.

Serving

  • Stack two slices of French toast, douse with warm maple syrup, and dust with powdered sugar. Serve immediately.

Notes

For extra flavor, you can add a pinch of nutmeg to the custard mixture. Adjust sweetness to your preference by adding more or less sugar. Ensure your pan is not too hot to prevent burning the toast before it cooks through.
