Ingredients
  

Bread Bowls

  • 4-6 round crusty bread loaves
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 4-5 cloves garlic
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes optional

Spaghetti Filling

  • 1 lb spaghetti
  • 1 (24-ounce) jar marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper to taste

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare the bread by slicing off the top and hollowing out the inside, leaving a 1/2-inch thick shell.
  • Combine melted butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, dried oregano, and optional red pepper flakes in a small bowl.
  • Brush the inside and outside of the bread bowls and lids with the garlic butter mixture and place on a baking sheet.
  • Bake for 8-10 minutes until golden, watching carefully to prevent burning.

Cooking Spaghetti

  • Cook spaghetti according to package directions until al dente, then drain well.
  • Toss the drained spaghetti with marinara sauce in a large bowl, seasoning with salt and pepper.

Assembly and Final Bake

  • Remove toasted bread bowls from the oven and fill each generously with saucy spaghetti.
  • Top each filled bowl with shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese.
  • Return the assembled bowls (and lids) to the oven and bake for 10-15 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly and bread is golden.
  • Carefully remove from the oven and serve immediately with the garlic bread lids.

Notes

For extra flavor, you can lightly toast the hollowed bread pieces and serve them alongside for dipping. Adjust the amount of red pepper flakes to your spice preference.
