  • Grill
  • Wide, thin spatula

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 4 salmon fillets (6-ounce / 170g), skin on or off
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 lemon half juiced and half cut into wedges
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder Optional

Instructions

Preparation

  • Gently pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels.
  • Brush both sides of the salmon with olive oil, then season with salt, black pepper, and optional garlic powder. Squeeze fresh lemon juice over the seasoned fillets.

Grilling

  • Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (about 400°F / 200°C), clean the grates, and oil them well.
  • Place the salmon fillets skin-side down on the hot, oiled grates and close the lid.
  • Grill for 4-6 minutes until the skin is crispy and the flesh becomes opaque halfway.
  • Carefully flip the salmon with a wide spatula.
  • Continue grilling for 2-4 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 145°F (63°C).

Serving

  • Remove the salmon from the grill, let it rest for 5 minutes, and serve with fresh lemon wedges.

Notes

For best results, ensure your grill grates are very clean and well-oiled to prevent the salmon from sticking. An instant-read thermometer is helpful to ensure the salmon is cooked to the perfect temperature.
