Equipment

  • Medium Saucepan
  • Wooden Spoon
  • Spatula
  • Large Mixing Bowl
  • Air Fryer
  • Piping Bag with Star Tip (or Ziploc bag)
  • Shallow Dish

Ingredients

Churro Dough

  • 1 cup Water
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter 1 stick
  • 1 tablespoon Granulated Sugar for dough
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 cup All-Purpose Flour
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract

For Coating

  • 1 tablespoon Granulated Sugar for coating
  • 1 tablespoon Cinnamon
  • Cooking Spray as needed

Instructions

Making the Dough

  • In a medium saucepan, combine water, butter, 1 tablespoon granulated sugar, and salt; bring to a rolling boil over medium heat, stirring until butter melts.
  • Remove the pan from heat and immediately add all-purpose flour; stir vigorously with a wooden spoon or spatula until a ball of dough forms and pulls away cleanly from the pan sides.
  • Return the dough to low heat and cook, stirring constantly, for 1-2 minutes to dry it out slightly.
  • Transfer the dough to a large mixing bowl and let it cool for about 5 minutes.
  • Add vanilla extract, then incorporate eggs one at a time, mixing well after each until the dough is smooth, glossy, and thick but pipeable.

Air Frying the Churros

  • Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) and line the basket with parchment paper or spray generously with cooking spray.
  • Transfer the dough to a piping bag with a star tip and pipe 1-inch to 1.5-inch churro bites into the air fryer basket, leaving space between each; work in batches if necessary.
  • Air fry for 8-12 minutes until golden brown and crispy, shaking or flipping halfway through for even cooking.

Coating and Serving

  • While churros air fry, combine the remaining tablespoon of granulated sugar and cinnamon in a shallow dish.
  • Immediately transfer hot churro bites to the cinnamon-sugar mixture and toss gently to coat completely; repeat with any remaining dough.

Notes

For an extra touch, you can serve these churro bites with a side of chocolate dipping sauce or a sprinkle of powdered sugar.
