Honey Garlic Sauce

  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce low sodium is a great option!
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar apple cider vinegar works too
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger grated (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes adjust to your spice preference
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp cold water (slurry)

Garnish

  • Sesame seeds for garnish, optional
  • Sliced green onions for garnish, optional

Cooking Steps

  • Pat the chicken dry, then season generously with salt and pepper.
  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear chicken in batches until golden brown and cooked through; set aside.
  • Whisk together honey, soy sauce, garlic, rice vinegar, optional ginger, and red pepper flakes in a bowl.
  • Pour the sauce into the skillet and bring to a simmer. Stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook until thickened and glossy.
  • Return the cooked chicken to the skillet, tossing to coat evenly with the sauce.
  • Simmer the chicken in the sauce for 1-2 minutes more to absorb flavors.
  • Remove from heat, transfer to serving plates, and garnish with sesame seeds and green onions if desired.

Notes

For extra flavor, marinate the chicken in a little soy sauce and ginger for 15-30 minutes before cooking. Adjust the red pepper flakes to your preferred spice level. Serve this chicken with steamed rice and your favorite stir-fried vegetables for a complete meal.
