Classic Cinnamon Roll Apple Bake Casserole

A delightful and easy-to-make dessert, this casserole combines soft cinnamon roll pieces with tender baked apples, all coated in a buttery brown sugar sauce and finished with a sweet icing drizzle. Perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a comforting treat.

Ingredients
  

Cinnamon Roll Mixture

  • 1 can Refrigerated cinnamon rolls (8 rolls) with icing
  • 4 medium Apples (like Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Fuji), cored and sliced

Sauce

  • 1/2 cup Unsalted butter (1 stick), melted
  • 1/2 cup Brown sugar light or dark
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon Pure vanilla extract

Optional Add-ins

  • 1/2 cup Pecans or walnuts chopped, optional
  • 1/4 teaspoon Ground nutmeg optional
  • Pinch Allspice optional

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • Slice your apples evenly.

Assemble Casserole

  • Cut each cinnamon roll into 4-6 pieces and arrange them in the greased baking dish.
  • Spread the apple slices over the cinnamon roll pieces.
  • In a small bowl, mix the melted butter, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and vanilla extract; optionally, add nuts, nutmeg, or allspice to this mixture.
  • Pour this mixture evenly over the apples and cinnamon rolls.
  • Cover the baking dish loosely with aluminum foil.

Bake & Finish

  • Bake for 30 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and bake for another 15-20 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the cinnamon rolls are golden brown and cooked through.
  • Take the casserole out of the oven.
  • Open the icing container; if too thick, warm it slightly by placing the sealed packet in warm water or microwaving for a few seconds. Drizzle the icing evenly over the warm casserole.

Notes

Warming the icing makes it easier to drizzle evenly over the warm casserole.
