Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened to room temperature
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup light brown sugar packed
  • 2 large eggs room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

Mix-ins

  • 2 cups chocolate chips a mix of semi-sweet and milk chocolate recommended

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt; set aside.

Mixing Dough

  • In a large bowl, cream softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar with an electric mixer until light and fluffy (2-3 minutes), scraping the bowl as needed.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
  • Stir in the chocolate chips by hand with a spatula until evenly distributed.

Baking

  • Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  • Bake for 9-12 minutes, until the edges are golden brown and centers are slightly soft.
  • Remove from the oven and cool on baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For best results, do not overbake; the cookies will continue to set as they cool. You can experiment with different types of chocolate chips or add nuts for variety.
