Equipment

  • Oven
  • Small Bowl
  • Baking Sheet
  • Large Skillet or Pot
  • Measuring spoons
  • Measuring cups

Ingredients

For the Garlic Bread Bowls:

  • 4 count small-medium sourdough boules or large round rolls (about 5-6 inches in diameter)
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 4-6 count cloves garlic, minced (or 2 tbsp pre-minced garlic)
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (plus more for garnish)
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • black pepper Pinch
  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese (optional, for the bread)

For the Chicken Alfredo:

  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 count cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 ½ cups heavy cream
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese (plus more for serving)
  • ¼ cup cream cheese (optional, for extra creaminess)
  • nutmeg Pinch (optional, enhances Alfredo flavor)

Instructions

Prepare the Bread Bowls

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Carefully slice and scoop out the interior of each bread boule, leaving a ½-inch thick shell.
  • Combine melted butter, minced garlic, parsley, salt, and pepper for the garlic butter. Brush the inside and outside of the bread bowls, and sprinkle mozzarella if desired.

Bake the Bowls

  • Place bread bowls on a baking sheet and bake for 10-15 minutes until golden brown and toasted, monitoring to prevent burning.

Cook the Chicken

  • Season chicken with salt and pepper, then cook in a skillet with olive oil over medium-high heat for 5-7 minutes until browned and cooked through. Remove and set aside.

Start the Alfredo Sauce

  • Reduce heat to medium in the same skillet. Melt 2 tablespoons of butter, then add minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.

Create the Sauce

  • Pour in heavy cream and simmer, stirring occasionally. Stir in Parmesan and cream cheese until smooth, then season with nutmeg, salt, and pepper.

Combine Ingredients

  • Return the cooked chicken to the Alfredo sauce and stir to coat. Add more cream or milk if needed to adjust sauce thickness.

Fill and Serve

  • Ladle the Chicken Alfredo into warm garlic bread bowls. Garnish with parsley and Parmesan, then serve immediately.

Notes

For easier preparation, you can use pre-minced garlic for the garlic butter. If you don't have sourdough boules, large round rolls will also work well. Don't discard the scooped-out bread — it's great for dipping into the extra Alfredo sauce!
