  • 8-10 package all-beef hot dogs

  • Yellow mustard optional

Instructions

Instructions

  • Take each hot dog and slice one end halfway through to create a small "knuckle" joint.
  • At the other end, make a small, shallow crescent-shaped cut for the "nail" and optionally trim a tiny piece to flatten it.
  • Make a few small, shallow horizontal cuts across the "finger" to resemble knuckle wrinkles for added realism.
  • Cook hot dogs using your preferred method (grilling, boiling, or pan-frying) until hot and slightly browned, being careful not to overcook.
  • Lightly toast hot dog buns if desired for extra flavor and texture.
  • Place each cooked hot dog firmly into a bun, preparing for the next steps.
  • Gently press a sliced almond or a small piece of white onion onto the "nail bed" created earlier; it should stick easily.
  • Pour a generous amount of ketchup over the "finger" and into the bun for a dripping, realistic "blood" effect. For an extra gory look, mix a tiny drop of red food coloring into a small amount of ketchup first.
  • Squeeze some yellow mustard as an optional addition for different color or flavor.

Notes

For an even more gruesome effect, you can use black food coloring to create "dirt" under the fingernails. Serve these hot dogs with a side of "bloody" potato salad (made with a little beet juice) and "eyeball" meatballs for a complete spooky meal. These are perfect for Halloween parties or any monster-themed gathering!
